What to Expect

Schedule An Appointment with Orthopedics

Most patients come to Orthopedics-Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center because they were referred by another provider who felt their conditions needed the attention of a specialist. A few other patients come as self-referrals. Some health insurance companies require a referral by another physician. You should check your policy to be sure.

To schedule an appointment at the West Burlington campus, call 319-768-4970. To schedule an appointment at the Fort Madison campus, call 319-376-1135. Walk-in appointments are not accepted.

If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please call during office hours. We appreciate knowing if you will miss an appointment because it helps us better serve all our patients.

Arriving for Your Appointment

When you make an appointment, we will mail paperwork to complete. Besides the completed paperwork, please bring:

  • A list of medicines you are taking. Include the name and dose of prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal and other supplements. Be sure to update your medicine list every time there is a change, and give a copy to each physician’s office when you visit.

  • X-rays, MRI studies or other reports related to your injury from other physicians, clinics or hospitals. If you do not bring the films, we may need to reschedule your appointment.

  • Your insurance card(s) so we can make copies. Please be prepared to make your co-payment during your visit.

During the Appointment

During your examination, our medical staff will ask you questions and perform tests to evaluate your condition. Some additional diagnostic tests may be ordered. Your provider will develop a treatment plan with you.
