Biographical Summary

Dr. Charles Frank is an academically fellowship trained spine surgeon. He has a major interest in adult degenerative conditions. Specializing in both lower back and neck surgical intervention, Dr. Frank believes surgical intervention should only be considered when conservative therapies are not effective. Surgical options are tailored to a patient’s specific pain and anatomy. There are many ways degenerative changes present themselves in the spine. A person may experience back or neck pain, pain and/or numbness shooting down the arms or legs or more severe issues such as balance issues or weakness. Each patient's degenerative spine condition will have a multitude of treatment options available. If surgery is eventually required, there is a preference to preserve motion at all segments if possible, however, when indicated a properly designed fusion construct can be very successful for the correct patient. Explaining these options and going through each individual pathway is necessary to develop the correct treatment plan through a joint decision-making process where the options are clearly laid out for each individual patient.
