Miller receives IHA Hospital Hero Award

Henry County Health Center’s Matt Miller, DNAP, has received the Iowa Hospital Association Hospital Hero Award for demonstrating exceptional commitment to care and service. Miller was one of 12 employees of Iowa hospitals to receive the 2022 recognition.

Since 2007, the Hospital Heroes program has celebrated employees who have acted courageously in a moment’s crisis or who have selflessly served their hospitals and communities throughout their careers. Hospital Heroes are nominated by their peers – more than 30 nominations were submitted this year – and award recipients are selected by other state hospital associations. Hospital Heroes were recognized during the Iowa Hospital Association’s annual meeting in October.

A hospital hero leads by example, finds solutions, and goes above and beyond to help others. As Henry County Health Center’s Director of Anesthesia, Miller does all of that and more. He is known for providing the highest quality patient care with sincerity, compassion and charisma. During the pandemic, Miller’s commitment to patients and community never wavered, coming to work every day to improve the lives of patients while ensuring the highest level of care.

Miller always provides outstanding service, helping whenever needed. This commitment expands to an international level with his organization “Operation Hope Medical Missions” where healthcare volunteers travel to Honduras to provide life-changing surgeries free of charge. Miller is the epitome of a Hospital Hero demonstrating through his actions and character the reason he is in healthcare - to serve others.

The Iowa Hospital Association is a voluntary membership organization representing hospital and health system interests to business, government and consumer audiences. 117 community hospitals are association members.
