Why Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice?

Devoted Care & Resources in Southeast Iowa

All hospice providers are not created equal. Southeast Iowa Regional Home Health & Hospice is your community provider of comfort, care, and compassion. We provide complete physical, emotional and spiritual care. Whether we are providing intermittent care at a patient's home, or are caring for them and their loved ones at our Southeast Iowa Regional Home Health & Hospice, our patients and patient families can trust that their well-being and quality of life will remain a priority throughout every stage of this difficult process.

At Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice:

  • We're based in West Burlington. We focus only on residents of Des Moines, Henry, Lee, Louisa and VanBuren counties.
  • We have been serving end-of-life the needs of people in southeast Iowa since 2002.
  • We're managed by local people who are your neighbors. Decisions are made based on the needs of local patients, families and the community. Our staff members live in the areas we serve, assuring you will have access to care when you need it.
  • We are a service of Great River Health. Being part of the local medical community brings continuity of care between hospice staff and patients’ physicians. The transition into our care is smooth because we routinely work closely with the healthcare providers that serve you before your need for hospice services.
  • We are a not-for-profit organization. Proceeds are reinvested to continue providing end-of-life services for local residents.
  • We have the area’s only hospice house. Southeast Iowa Regional Home Health & Hospice is a six-suite, one-story house along the lake on Great River Health' campus. It is a peaceful refuge that allows people to spend their final time together in a meaningful way when other settings no longer can fulfill patients’ and families’ needs.
  • We have a higher percentage of nurses who are certified in hospice and palliative care than most other hospice care providers.
  • We have more than 150 local volunteers who provide companionship, run errands, do light housekeeping, make quilts and help with other meaningful activities.
  • We provide a monthly program, Tender Heart Tuesdays, for people who have experienced a loss. Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice offers many free bereavement workshops throughout the year for anyone who needs support for coping with grief. Family members of Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice patients receive individual grief support for 13 months after the patient’s death.
  • We offer a comprehensive Music Care program. Trained volunteer musicians provide music to help alleviate pain, enhance memory, express feelings, improve communication and manage stress.
  • We provide services jointly with Southeast Iowa Regional Home Health. Together, they provide continuity. If hospice care is needed, patients already are familiar with their caregivers, providing reassurance and peace of mind.
  • We offer educational presentations to healthcare professionals and the community. Everyone benefits from good information, regardless of whether they choose Southeast Iowa Regional Home Health & Hospice as their provider.
  • We provide access to quality care regardless of a patient’s ability to pay through its charity-care program.
