Great River Health System Junior Volunteen applications due May 18

Summer experience set for June 11 to Aug. 3

West Burlington, Iowa, May 3, 2018 Great River Health System’s summer Junior Volunteen Program for youths 16 to 18 years old is scheduled from Monday, June 11 to Friday, Aug. 3. The eight-week program provides opportunities to explore health care careers, gain work experience and fulfill volunteer requirements for school and service projects.

Positions for Junior Volunteens are available at Great River Medical Center and Great River Klein Center. Teens will be scheduled to work a minimum of one four-hour shift per week, and they must be present seven of the eight weeks.

Teens must complete an application to be considered. Other requirements include:

  • Attendance at the orientation from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday, June 8.
  • Background check
  • An essay
  • Minimum 2.8 grade point average
  • Pledge of confidentiality
  • TB test and health assessment
  • Written references
