Great River Health System presented Excellence in Practice Awards Thursday,
May 18, to six employees and one physician who have shown exemplary practice
or performed specific deeds that exceed expectations to help patients,
patients’ families, coworkers, the community or their professions.
Clinical Excellence Award recognizes outstanding clinical care. The winner was Megan Woodard, Great
River Hospice. Finalists were Char Cole, Heritage Partners Pharmacy, and
Dennis Flowers, Diagnostic Imaging.
Community Excellence Award recognizes voluntary contributions. The winner was Trina Tucker, Medical
Staff Office. Finalists were Sharon Hicks, Digestive Health Center, and
Kristy Ourth, Great River Klein Center.
TheLeadership Excellence Award recognizes proven leadership skills. The winner was Jane VanFleet, Great
River Physicians and Clinics Business Services. Finalists were Kevin Dameron,
Environmental Services, and Susan Fowler, Acute Care Center.
TheNursing Excellence Award recognizes a registered nurse who provides outstanding direct patient
care. The winner was Tami Postle, Pediatrics Unit. Finalists were Barbara
Blom, Great River Cancer Center, and Katie Lingenfelter, Great River Urology.
ThePhysician Excellence Award recognizes outstanding patient care, leadership and citizenship. The winner
was Gary Mansheim, M.D., Burlington Area Family Practice Center. Finalists
were Sofia Bajwa, M.D., Hospitalist Program, and William Rockey, M.D.,
Ph.D., Great River Cancer Center.
Service Excellence Award recognizes an employee who does not provide direct patient care but has
an integral role in a health-system service. The winner was Jon Cowles,
Environmental Services. Finalists were Roxane Pratt, Great River Klein
Center, and Jessica Gerling, Great River Orthopaedic Specialists.
Rookie of the Year Award recognizes someone who has made an impression in his or her first year
of employment. The winner was Tonya Rehm, Great River Hospice. Finalists
were Beth Conrad, Great River Wound and Hyperbaric Clinic, and Mary Sachs,
