Diabetic foot care topic of May 25 program for women

Foot care for people with diabetes is the topic of Great River Health System’ next Red Hot Mamas program. It is scheduled at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 25, in the Blackhawk Room on the lower level of Great River Wellness Plaza, 1401 W. Agency Road, West Burlington.

People with diabetes can develop a loss of sensation and poor circulation in their feet. This can lead to serious problems, such as diabetic ulcers and amputation. Micki Gerdes-Boelens, D.P.M., will present the free program. She is a podiatrist at Great River Orthopaedic Specialists and Great River Wound and Hyperbaric Clinic.
